Privacy Policy

Who We Are

ATLift is a free mobile application built by student developers under the mentorship and advisement of Shana Sanders, Founder & CEO, on behalf of We Create Tech, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Decatur, Georgia.

ATLift connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Atlanta metro area to shelters, food pantries, healthcare clinics, jobs, legal aid, and other essential community resources.

Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to make the app work. Here is what that includes:

Account Information (if you create an account)

• Email address — used to create and manage your account
• Password — stored securely and encrypted; we never see it in plain text

Location Data (only when you use the map)

• Your approximate GPS location — used only to show nearby resources and MARTA transit directions
• Location is only accessed when you tap "Allow Location Access" in the app
• We do not track your location in the background
• Location data is never stored on our servers

Volunteer Form Submissions

• Name, email, phone number, ZIP code, age range, availability, and areas of interest
• Submitted only when you choose to complete the volunteer sign-up form
• Sent directly to the ATLift team via EmailJS; not stored in a database

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect payment information of any kind
• We do not collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, or medical information
• We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to any third party

How We Use Your Information

• To create and authenticate your account securely
• To show you resources near your location on the map
• To process volunteer sign-up submissions and contact you about opportunities
• To improve the app based on general usage patterns (no personally identifiable data)
• To send you a confirmation email when you sign up to volunteer

We will never use your information for purposes not listed here without first asking your explicit permission.

Third-Party Services

ATLift uses a small number of trusted third-party services to function:

• Supabase — Secure user authentication and account management. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II compliant. Supabase Privacy Policy
• EmailJS — Sends volunteer form submissions to the ATLift team. Email content is transmitted securely. EmailJS Privacy Policy
• OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — Powers the in-app map. Map tile requests do not include your personal information. OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy

We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or any advertising technology.

Data Security

We take the security of your information seriously, especially given the vulnerable populations ATLift serves.

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encrypted connections
• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text (managed by Supabase)
• Location data is processed on-device and never stored on our servers
• Access to any stored data is limited to authorized We Create Tech staff only
• We regularly review our security practices

Children's Privacy

ATLift is designed to help adults and families experiencing homelessness. The app is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@atlift.org and we will promptly delete that information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correct — update or correct inaccurate information
• Delete — request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent — turn off location access at any time in your device settings
• Guest access — use ATLift without creating an account at all

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@atlift.org. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app grows. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and notify users through the app when changes are significant.

Continued use of ATLift after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
